NICARAGUA
Nicaragua, set between the Pacific Ocean and the Caribbean Sea, is a Central American nation known for its dramatic terrain of lakes, volcanoes and beaches. Along the pacific coastline where Aurea is located, you will also find the popular surf towns of Popoyo, Guasacate and Astillero only 20-30 minutes north of Hacienda Iguana and the Emerald Coast International Airport.
Vast Lake Nicaragua contains the most exotic destination in the country being its volcanic island of Ometepe, with beaches, rivers, hot springs and waterfalls in between both Concepcion and Maderas volcanoes. Only 40 minute drive from Aurea, the ferry departs from Port San Jorge in the town of Rivas, and 45 minutes later arrives in the island. It’s a haven for hiking, horseback riding, bike tours, kitesurfing or windsurfing and of course all sorts of cultural tours through farms and old settlements.
Further out at a comfortable one hour drive, the city of San Juan del Sur to the south, offers a dazzling choice of things to do for travelers on a variety of budget and interests, included the Christ of the Mercy or Mirador del Cristo de la Misericordia guarding the bay of San Juan del Sur. It’s also known for a richer nightlife, incredible restaurants and it’s small recreational marina.
We offer day or weekend trips to discover some of the beauties of Nicaragua. You can enjoy the majestic views of an active volcano, visit a local market or inmerse yourself in the jungle. We can organize ground or air transportation, lodging and full packages. Some of the places we recommend to visit are:
